Diagnosis Module
Above is the data Entry screen
for this module. The buttons are pretty much self-explanatory. The
diagnoses
in this database come directly from the HCFA.org website where
you
can check for any new diagnoses for yoru specialty.
The fields on this screen are...
- Code
is the ICD-9 code for this particular diagnosis
- The field Specailty allows you to assign to a
diagnosis the medical specialty that uses it in your practice. If
the specialty you want is not in the list when it drop
down, press the [esc] key and carefully type in a new
specialty. Once you do it will be
added to the list for future use!
- Description
is the description that appears on the screen or on the printed claims.
- Description
2 is how you want the
diagnosis to read on letters and other correspondence. It auto-fills
initially with the same value as in Description.
- Memo
is for notes to yourself about
this diagnosis.
- There are over 15,000 diagnoses
and you will not want all of them to pop-up when you want to quick
select one that is particular to your practice. When the Pick List is “Y”
this
diagnosis is made part of the picklist that you get when you click into
any
diagnosis field in the Patients
and Billing modules. This can be
used
to create a smaller, more personalized list geared to your
practice.
- Visit
Interval for Dx is the number
of months between visits for this particular diagnosis.
- Slip
List: If you want this
diagnosis to appear on your PracticeMaker®’s superbill, check this
box. Depending on how the superbill is formatted, you can have nearly
90 diagnoses in the list.
- Not
Specific Enough marks a diagnosis code as
not specific enough for reimbursement. If any of the diagnoses used on
an
invoice are marked as Not Specific Enough,
you will get beeped at the invoice stage! You will need to update
this
as more codes are assigned.
The section below these fields
lists all diagnoses that are part of the same diagnostic group as the
one you are seeing on top. You can sort this list by clicking either
the Code or Description radio
buttons at the top of the respective columns. In addition, you can
decide
if any of the choices in this list should be part of your Pick List
by selected "Y" or "N".
